Ukrainian border guard reports almost 30% decline in Crimea border crossings during holidays

KYIV. Jan 9 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian State Border Service has reported a significant decline in traffic across the border with Crimea during the holiday season.

"During the Christmas holidays (January 5 to 7) in 2019, the administrative border was crossed in both directions by 29% fewer citizens than in the same period of last year. The number of citizens headed for the peninsula went down 34%," the agency wrote on Facebook on Wednesday.

It also reported a 25% year-on-year decline in border traffic to and from Crimea during the New Year holidays (between December 30, 2018, and January 1, 2019).
