Tushino Tunnel leak to be fully cleaned up by Friday morning - Moscow mayor
MOSCOW. Jan 10 (Interfax) - All Moscow emergency services are working to clean up the Moscow Canal leak that occurred on Thursday morning in order to reopen the Tushino Tunnel as soon as possible, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said.
"Hopefully, all the work will be completed by tomorrow morning. There is a lot to be done. This is a serious accident," Sobyanin told the press on Thursday.
"Unfortunately, there was a leak through a wall of the Moscow Canal. A significant amount of water and mud poured into the Tushino Tunnel, and they had to stop traffic. This is quite a serious accident," he said.
Water is being dumped from the canal at a sluice, the tunnel walls will be reinforced, the tunnel will be cleaned of water and mud, and traffic will resume, Sobyanin said.
No one was hurt, he said.
