Ukraine quits CIS convention-and-exhibition agreement
KYIV. Jan 10 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian government resolved to withdraw from the agreement on the promotion of convention-and-exhibition activity in the CIS without discussion at its meeting on Thursday.
"We have analyzed the international economic agreements concluded by Ukraine in the CIS framework and submitted a list of them to the Foreign Ministry with the recommendation to terminate their validity for Ukraine. These include the agreement on the promotion of convention-and-exhibition activity in the CIS," the press service of the Ukrainian Ministry of Economic Development and Trade quoted Stepan Kubiv, the first deputy prime minister and minister of economic development and trade, as saying.
"Given the current situation and Russia's aggression against Ukraine, the provisions and ideas of this agreement do not correspond to the actual state of affairs," he said.
The agreement on the promotion of convention-and-exhibition activity in the CIS was signed on May 26, 1995, and was intended to boost integration between member states, international contacts, and the formation of a unified economic and information area in the CIS.
