IMF lowers Russia's 2019 GDP growth forecast to 1.6%

WASHINGTON. Jan 21 (Interfax) - The International Monetary Fund (IMF) forecasts GDP growth for Russia at 1.6% in 2019 in its latest World Economic Outlook (WEO) update.

The forecast was lowered from 1.8% in the IMF's previous update in October.

The IMF thinks the Russian economy will grow 1.7% in 2020.

The IMF's forecast for GDP growth in the Commonwealth of Independent States including Russia in 2019 is 2.2%, down from 2.4% in October. GDP in the CIS minus Russia might rise 3.7% in 2019, up from the 3.6% forecast in October; and 3.7% in 2020 also.
