Tu-22M3 that crashed in Murmansk region manufactured 33 years ago, last underwent maintenance in 2012 - Tupolev
MOSCOW. Jan 22 (Interfax-AVN) - The Tupolev Tu-22M3 long-range bomber that crashed in the Murmansk region on Tuesday was manufactured 33 years ago and last underwent maintenance in 2012, Tupolev's press service told Interfax.
"The Tu-22M3 aircraft that crashed at the Olenya airbase on January 22, 2019 was manufactured by the Kazan Gorbunov Aviation Plant in 1986. The plane underwent its last overhaul at Aircraft Repair Plant No. 150 in Kaliningrad in 2012," Tupolev said.
Specialists from the company will take part in the investigation into the crash, it said.
"Tupolev PJSC expresses its deep condolences to the relatives and loved ones of the deceased crewmembers," it said.
