Maduro never had blue ticks on Facebook, Instagram - company
MOSCOW. Jan 24 (Interfax) - Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has never been verified on Facebook or Instagram, so blue ticks could not have been deleted from his pages, according to the company that owns both social networks.
Nicolas Maduro was never verified on Facebook or Instagram, so Facebook (which has owned Instagram since 2012) could not have deleted the verification of his accounts, Instagram said in response to an Interfax query sent to Facebook in Russia.
Juan Guaido was verified on Instagram in November 2018, and he was recently verified on Facebook, Instagram said.
The company said it strives to do everything possible to make people aware whether they are subscribed to the real accounts of public personalities, celebrities, or brands on Instagram and Facebook. The blue tick is used as a verification badge confirming the authenticity of accounts or pages, it said.
