Peskov says unaware of contacts with Netherlands over MH17

MOSCOW. Feb 8 (Interfax) - The Kremlin has no knowledge of any contacts between the Netherlands and Russia or about upcoming formal talks on liability for the downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 in eastern Ukraine, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

Peskov said "no" when asked whether the presidential administration had any information of the sort and directed the question to the Foreign Ministry.

The media has reported a statement by the Dutch Foreign Ministry that contacts with Russia are being maintained "through diplomatic channels on the subject of national liability [for the downing], and [that] talks will begin shortly."

According to Dutch Foreign Minister Stef Blok, diplomatic contacts with Russia on launching formal talks have a positive atmosphere.

A Boeing 777 flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur was downed in the Donetsk region on July 17, 2014. All 298 people on board were killed.
