Uzbekistan offers Tashkent as venue for Visegrad Group-Central Asia meeting
TASHKENT. Feb 12 (Interfax) - Uzbekistan is ready to arrange the second meeting of the foreign ministers of the Central European countries that are members of the Visegrad Group (Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic) and Central Asian countries in Tashkent, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry's press service said on Tuesday.
"The first interregional ministerial meeting in the Visegrad Group + Central Asia format, which was held in Budapest on February 27-28, 2018, opened up new prospects for strengthening mutually advantageous ties. The Uzbek side has said that it is ready to organize the second meeting in this format in the city of Tashkent within an agreed-upon timeframe," the press service said following a meeting between Uzbek First Deputy Foreign Minister Ilhom Nematov and Slovak Ambassador in Tashkent Jan Bory.
At the meeting, the sides reaffirmed their interest in intensifying contacts at various levels and between joint institutions of interaction. They exchanged opinions on the schedule of the fourth round of political consultations between the two countries' Foreign Ministries and the first meeting of the interdepartmental commission for economic cooperation, the press service said.
