No progress in Donbas conflict resolution - OSCE rep
MINSK. Feb 13 (Interfax) - Attempts to get closer to resolving the Ukrainian conflict in the past four years have failed, according to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe's (OSCE) Special Representative in the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG), Martin Sajdik.
February 12 marked four years since the signing of the Package of Measures for the implementation of the Minsk Agreements, a fundamental element of the agreements, but unfortunately, the conflict is nowhere near being solved, Sajdik told journalists after a TCG meeting in Minsk on Wednesday.
He said he expressed this position at yesterday's UN Security Council meeting, which was convened on the occasion of the fourth anniversary of the signing of the Package of Measures.
The meeting showed that there is great international concern about the situation in eastern Ukraine, Sajdik said. The humanitarian aspect of the conflict and the need to ensure the safety of the civilian population were emphasized, he said.
