Russia showed absolute openness to save INF Treaty - Shoigu

SOCHI. Feb 14 (Interfax) - Russia did all it could to save the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said.

"We did all we can to save this agreement, we were absolutely open and showed everything they asked us for," Shoigu told reporters in reply to a question from Interfax on Thursday.

Russia has undertaken reciprocal measures in response to the United States' actions, he said. "Reciprocity in everything, absolutely. They included R&D spending for shorter- and intermediate-range missiles in the current budget. And we did, too. They said to us that launchers and missiles should be destroyed. And we said you should destroy the launchers that are deployed in Romania and that you propose deploying in Poland. Destroy unmanned aerial vehicles and target missiles," Shoigu said.
