U.S. embassy officer attending hearing on arrest of Baring Vostok founder Calvey

MOSCOW. Feb 15 (Interfax) - The United States embassy to Russia's American Citizen Services Officer Richard Hanrahan has come to Moscow's Basmanny District Court to attend a hearing where a pretrial restrictive measure will be chosen for Baring Vostok founder Michael Calvey, who is charged with fraud.

Hanrahan did not make any statements and entered the courtroom with a lawyer, an Interfax correspondent reported from the courtroom.

Earlier, Hanrahan attended a hearing at which accused spy Paul Whelan's arrest was extended.

Calvey and three other top managers of the investment company Baring Vostok were detained in Moscow earlier on Friday in a criminal case dealing with fraud involving the Vostochny Bank. The investigation suspects the detainees of embezzling over 2.5 billion rubles.
