Criminal inquiry launched after St. Petersburg university collapse

ST. PETERSBURG. Feb 16 (Interfax) - Investigators in St. Petersburg have launched a criminal inquiry into safety rules violation after a building collapse at the Information Technologies, Optical Design and Engineering (ITMO) University.

"The Russian Investigative Committee's main directorate for the city of St. Petersburg has opened a criminal case over the collapse of floors inside an under-repair building of a higher-education institution under Article 216 of the Criminal Code (violation of the safety rules during construction or other work)," a spokesperson said.
