Motor riflemen placed on training alert during bilateral tactical drills

ROSTOV-ON-DON. Feb 25 (Interfax) - About 1,500 soldiers from the 150th Motor Rifle Division of the Southern Military District are taking part in bilateral battalion tactical drills at the Kadamovsky Range in the Rostov Region, the press service of the Southern Military District said.

"Units of the 150th Motor Rifle Division of the Southern Military District in the Rostov Region were placed on training alert at the start of the bilateral battalion tactical exercise involving the combat live fire drill. At the final stage of the drills units will fire all types of firearms, grenade launchers, combat vehicles at targets imitating tracked and wheeled vehicles and live personnel of the simulated enemy," the statement reads.

Army aviation helicopters, namely, the Night Hunter Mil Mi-28N, the Mi-35, and the Terminator Mi-8AMTSh will provide support from the air, it said.

By the decision of Commander of the Troops of the Southern Military District Col. Gen. Alexander Dvornikov all of the maneuvers in major formations and military units, regardless their scale (company, battalion and other drills), are held in the form of combat-readiness inspections. The entire personnel of a major unit or a military unit perform combat-readiness exercises. Bilateral battalion tactical drills are based on the combat technique in modern armed crises.

Additionally, the control over bilateral battalion tactical drills is executed by means of communications equipment of the Southern Military District, while officers of the headquarters of the military district will give an assessment to them locally.

The bilateral battalion tactical drills will be conducted in a motor rifle regiment of the 150th Motor Rifle Division of the 8th All-Combined Arms Army of the Southern Military District between February 25 and March 1.
