Karabakh conflict has only peaceful resolution - Pashinyan, Ayatollah Khamenei

YEREVAN. Feb 27 (Interfax) - Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and the Iranian spiritual leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei have met in Tehran to discuss the regional agenda.

"At the meeting the pair touched on various regional issues. NIkol Pashinyan and Ali Khamenei were agreed that a comprehensive and lasting settlement of the conflict in Nagorno Karabakh was only possible by way of a peace," the Armenian government's press service said.

Ayatollah Khamenei expressed readiness to facilitate the development of bilateral cooperation in a variety of areas, noting in particular the importance of a broader economic cooperation.

The two also discussed the political changes that took place in Armenia last spring.

The Iranian spiritual leader said he watched closely "the peaceful processes occurring in Armenia, occuring in accordance with democratic canons."
