Syrian, Russian military to protect buses carrying refugees from Rukban camp

MOSCOW. March 1 (Interfax) - The Syrian and Russian military will protect the buses carrying refugees from Rukban camp, Lieut. Gen. Sergei Solomatin, head of the Russian center for reconciliation of opposing sides, said at a meeting of the interdepartmental coordination headquarters of Russia and Syria.

A humanitarian corridor and the Jleb checkpoint have been organized for Syrian citizens leaving the Rukban camp, he said. Buses will take the Syrians to the populated areas of Halidi, al-Amara, Palmyra, Mhyn, al-Karyatein, to the suburbs of Damascus, and to Homs and Aleppo.

"The protection of the motorcades at the checkpoint and their escort to the permanent residences of the Syrian citizens has been organized by the military of the Syrian Arab Republic in cooperation with the Syrian security service and the military police units of the Russian Armed Forces," Solomatin said.
