Only British govt know Skripals' fate for a fact - Russian ambassador in London

MOSCOW. March 2 (Interfax) - The Russian side knows nothing about the fate of Sergei and Yulia Skripal, Russian Ambassador to the United Kingdom Alexander Yakovenko told Interfax in an interview.

"Neither us, nor anyone else, except for the British authorities know anything about the Skripals' fate for a fact. Whether they are alive, how their health is, what their status is and how unrestricted they are in communication and travel are those questions, answers to which not their relatives and consuls need, but also the general public," the Russian ambassador said.

"The reasons why the UK refuses to give credible answers to them are absolutely unclear to us," Yakovenko said.

British Ambassador to Russia Laurie Bristow said earlier in an interview with Interfax: "I can confirm that they are alive. I can confirm that the request or offer of the Russian embassy to see them has been passed to them."
