Russian Foreign Ministry notes need to prevent negative scenario between Israel, Palestine

MOSCOW. March 25 (Interfax) - The Russian Foreign Ministry hosted the Palestinian ambassador to discuss the need to prevent an aggravation against the backdrop of renewed confrontation between Israel and Palestine, the ministry said.

On Monday the Russian Presidential Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov received Palestinian Ambassador Abdel Hafiz Nofal at the latter's request, the ministry said.

The pair discussed the sharp aggravation of the situation around the Gaza Strip, which risked leading to a repeat of armed confrontation between the Israelis and Palestinians, with serious devastation and civilian casualties.

"In this context, it was noted that it is necessary to refrain from the aggressive rhetoric and take relevant measures in the interest of preventing further developments according to a negative scenario," the ministry stated.
