West sacrifices business interests to politics in relations with Russia - Lavrov
MOSCOW. March 26 (Interfax) - Russia hopes that common sense will prevail in its relations with the United States and that the latter will stop sacrificing the economy to politics, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at a meeting with representatives of the American Chamber of Commerce.
"At present, advocates of the capitalist way of development are applying the Marxist approach but with a minus sign, to my knowledge, and in Europe and America they're insisting that business proceed from a need to sacrifice the economy to politics," Lavrov said.
This situation contravenes the interests of business, which is incurring substantial losses because of sanctions, and the need to create jobs, he said.
"Hopefully, common sense will prevail in the end. At least, an increasing number of voices are being raised in the West and elsewhere to support this approach," Lavrov said.
