Border guards detain, escort Norwegian vessel Arctic Swan to Murmansk port

MURMANSK. March 27 (Interfax) - The vessel Arctic Swan, which was detained by border guards on suspicion of violating fishing regulations, arrived at the port of Murmansk on Wednesday.

"A probe into violations of fishing regulations is underway," a source in the region's law enforcement told Interfax.

At the same time, photos of the detained vessel were published on the Twitter account of the Murmansk Sea Fish Port. The Norwegian vessel is located at berth 43.

"According to preliminary information, the Norwegian vessel was detained by Russian border guards while illegally fishing in the Russian part of the Barents Sea," the Murmansk Sea Fish Port said.

The Russian Federal Security Service's Border Guard Department for the Western Arctic district is not commenting on the detention of the foreign vessel.
