No reaction to Kyiv's violation of int'l obligations in holding elections unacceptable - Russian Foreign Ministry
MOSCOW. March 27 (Interfax) - There needs to be a reaction to Ukraine violating its international obligations during the election period, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said.
"Ukraine has international obligations in holding elections, which have been violated at every step. For example, Russian observers have been banned. Violations also involve the ban on media outlets, not only Russian but European ones as well. There has to be a reaction to this," Zakharova told the television Channel One on Wednesday.
The position of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) on the ban on Russian observers is strange, she said.
"When Ukraine first declared that there will be no Russian observers, we commented that we ourselves were not going to send them. To which the OSCE told us that that was a violation. But after that Ukraine passed a law banning Russian observers, and the OSCE became actively silent," Zakharova said.
