Thirteen Kazakh servicemen killed in helicopter crash
NUR-SULTAN. March 28 (Interfax) - A Mil Mi-8 helicopter has crashed in Kazakhstan's Kyzylorda region, killing all 13 people on board, the Kazakh Defense Ministry's press service said on Thursday.
"Thirteen servicemen on military duty were killed in the crash of the Kazakh Armed Forces' helicopter during drills on March 27, 2019," it said.
"The administration of the Defense Ministry will take measures to extend moral and financial assistance," the press service said.
The Kazakh Armed Forces' personnel are offering their sincere and profound condolences to the families and friends of their fellow servicemen.
Kazakh Senate Speaker Dariga Nazarbayeva has also sent her condolences to the families of the crewmembers and servicemen killed in the helicopter crash, the Senate press service said.
"The memory of the victims who with honor fulfilled their military duty for the sake of peace and security in the country will always remain in our hearts," Nazarbayeva said in her condolence message.
