Leroy Merlin to open 12-15 stores per year in Russia
KEMEROVO. March 28 (Interfax) - French home improvement and gardening retailer Leroy Merlin plans to open 12 to 15 stores in Russia annually, Leroy Merlin Vostok LLC deputy CEO Marc Loucheux told Interfax after the opening ceremony for the company's second hypermarket in Kemerovo on Thursday.
The retailer has 12-15 projects this year, as it has always had every year in the past five years, and next year there will also be 12-15 projects, Loucheux said.
He said that this year the company plans to open stores in Novosibirsk, Izhevsk, Ulan-Ude (at the end of 2019), Moscow Region and Vladivostok, which will get its first Leroy Merlin store.
Leroy Merlin now has 94 stores in Russia, including the new store in Kemerovo, Loucheux said. The chain is expected to grow to 100-105 stores by the end of 2019.
