Russia invites Ukraine to CIS foreign ministers' meeting, no reply yet from Kyiv - Russian envoy

MINSK. March 29 (Interfax) - Russia has invited Ukraine to attend a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in Moscow on April 5, Andrei Grozov, Russia's permanent representative to the charter and other bodies of the CIS, told reporters in Minsk on Friday.

"The Russian Federation has sent an official invitation from [Russian Foreign Minister] Sergei Lavrov to Kyiv to [Ukrainian] Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin to attend the session of the Council of Foreign Ministers," Grozov said.

The Ukrainian side has so far not replied to the invitation, "but, of course, we will be waiting," he said.

The invitation was sent to Ukraine well in advance, in early March, Grozov said.
