U.S. views Russia's super-heavy rocket as transportation alternative for lunar program - RAS president
MOSCOW. April 2 (Interfax) - U.S. scientists view Russia's super-heavy rocket as a transportation alternative in the lunar program, according to Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) President Alexander Sergeyev.
"Mutual interest in the lunar program has been confirmed. They know well that the Russian lunar program based on a heavy rocket is crucial to the United States as a second transportation system. They have learned the bitter lesson of space shuttles and really think that it is better to have an alternative system," Sergeyev said following talks between a RAS delegation and the U.S. National Academy of Sciences.
