Lukashenko holds 2nd meeting with Ukrainian politician Medvedchuk this year
MINSK. April 4 (Interfax) - Belarussian President Alexander Lukashenko met with Ukrainian politician and head of the political council of the Opposition Platform-For Life party Viktor Medvedchuk on Thursday, the Belarussian leader's press service said.
At the start of the meeting, Lukashenko asked Medvedchuk how he thinks the situation in Ukraine will unfold further.
Medvedchuk said that Lukashenko's prediction regarding the winners of the first round of the Ukrainian presidential election was correct.
"I remember your press conference on March 1, 2019, when you were asked this question and analyzed what might happen," Medvedchuk said.
Lukashenko said at that press conference that Petro Poroshenko and Volodymyr Zelensky would go forward to the second-round run-off, he said.
"I want to tell you that none of our experts, sociologists or politicians were able to say on March 1 who would make it to the second round," Medvedchuk said.
The meeting was Lukashenko's second with Medvedchuk this year. Their first meeting took place in mid-January.
