Russia always ready for contacts with parties to Libyan conflict until resolution - deputy FM

MOSCOW. April 8 (Interfax) - Russia stands ready to receive representatives of both parties to the conflict in Libya, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa Mikhail Bogdanov said.

"We always stand ready for contact. This question should be addressed to them," Bogdanov told journalists when asked whether the parties to the conflicts could visit Russia.

Russia is working with the United Nations and with UN Secretary-General's Special Representative Ghassan Salame, he said.

"We have permanent contact. I just met with Ghassan Salame and a Libyan delegation in Tunisia. Libya was represented by [Government of National Accord Prime Minister Fayez] Sarraj; the government," he said.

Bogdanov said he was maintaining telephone contact with all parties, "including the west, the east, and the south, and various sociopolitical forces have [also] reached out to us," he said.

"We have also expressed our concerns about the situation at the [UN] Security Council, and have urged everyone to find political solutions to problems arising," he said.

There is a need to consolidate efforts in fighting terrorists, who still control a lot of territory in Libya, Bogdanov said.
