Armenian security chief, CIS ATC official mull preparations for Ararat-Antiterrorism exercises

YEREVAN. April 9 (Interfax) - Director of the Armenian National Security Service Artur Vanetsyan and Deputy Head of the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center (ATC) Maj. Gen. Sergei Dudko at a meeting in Yerevan discussed preparations for Ararat-Anti-Terrorism-2019 exercises, the press center of the Armenian special service reported on Tuesday.

It said that the delegation led by Dudko is in Yerevan for talks in the framework of the joint exercises of CIS member-countries. The exercises will involve CIS special services, the 102nd Russian military base deployed in Armenia and interested Armenian ministries and agencies.

"At their Tuesday meeting Vanetsyan and Dudko exchanged opinions about the situation on CIS borders and existing threats that appeared due to the change in the strategies of international terrorist organizations in Syria and Iraq following their serious losses. In addition, they discussed programs and tasks of the relevant bodies of CIS countries. The sides pointed out to the high standard of collaboration between the Armenian National Security Service and the CIS ATC in countering terrorism and other manifestations of violence," the press center said.

It also said that in 2006 the Armenian National Security Service in coordination with CIS ATC conducted Atom-Anti-Terrorism exercises to drill issues of enhancing the counter-terrorist security of the Armenian nuclear power plant.
