Secured network operators to be exempt from obligation to limit access to websites with prohibited info
MOSCOW. April 10 (Interfax) - The amendments for the second reading of a bill concerning a stable Runet relieve network operators from the obligation to limit access to websites containing prohibited information, Leonid Levin, head of the State Duma Committee for Information Policy, Information Technologies and Communications, said.
"[The bill] establishes that network operators are made exempt from the obligation to limit access to websites with prohibited information if they have installed a technical means of countering threats on their communication network," Levin told reporters on Tuesday.
At present Russian network operators are required to block all banned content on their own, he said.
