Airborne Forces Commander Serdyukov heads Russian contingent in Syria - newspaper

MOSCOW. April 12 (Interfax) - Airborne Forces Commander Col. Gen. Andrei Serdyukov has replaced Aerospace Forces Commander Sergei Surovikin as the head of the Russian contingent in Syria, the newspaper Kommersant said in a report.

"Airborne Forces Commander Col. Gen. Andrei Serdyukov has taken charge of the Russian contingent in Syria. He has replaced Aerospace Forces Commander Gen. Sergei Surovikin, who was supervising the activity of the Russian military in the republic for the past few months," Kommersant said.
