Russian, Algerian FMs discuss situation in Syria, Libya

MOSCOW. April 15 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has held a meeting on Monday with his Algerian counterpart Sabri Boukadoum, who has arrived in Moscow to participate in the fifth ministerial session of the Russian-Arab Cooperation Forum.

"A range of relevant issues of further strengthening of the foreign political coordination and stepping up fruitful cooperation between Russia and Algeria on various tracks was discussed in an atmosphere of mutual understanding traditional for Russian-Algerian relations," the Russian Foreign Ministry said on its website.

"During the exchange of views on regional issues, the parties placed special emphasis on the developing situation in Syria, Libya, as well as the issue of the Western Sakhara settlement prior to its consideration at the United Nations Security Council. At that, the parties reiterated the commitment of Moscow and Algeria to unblocking all conflict situation by political and diplomatic means, on the basis of respect to the provisions and principles of international law and the UN Charter," it said.
