Poroshenko promises to come for debates with Zelensky at to Olimpiyskiy stadium
KYIV. April 16 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has confirmed that he will come to the Olimpiyskiy National Sports Complex to take part in debates with his presidential runoff rival Volodymyr Zelensky.
"I will firmly do everything possible for every Ukrainian citizen to be able to obtain full information on both candidates. In order to make an absolutely informed choice. So, we'll see each other on [April] 19," Poroshenko told the television channel 112.Ukraine on Tuesday.
Earlier both candidates' campaign offices signed an agreement with the Olimpiyskiy NSC on holding the debates.
Poroshenko suggested the debates be held between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. on April 19 before continuing debates at the Public broadcaster's studio.
Zelensky's campaign rejected the proposal because the 4 p.m.-6 p.m. slot was when most voters would be still at work and thus unable to listen to the candidates, and instead suggested that the debates start at 7 p.m.
