Emergency Situations Ministry: All fires in 14 Transbaikal Territory villages extinguished
MOSCOW. April 20 (Interfax) - The Emergency Situations Ministry has extinguished the wildland fires that spread to villages in the Transbaikal Territory, the press service for the ministry told Interfax.
"All the fires in 14 populated localities have been extinguished; two Beriev Be-200 aircraft and a Mil Mi-8 helicopter have arrived in Chita from Krasnoyarsk, two more Mi-8 helicopters are on their way and a Be-200 aircraft is conducting reconnaissance," the press service said.
According to the regional branch of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry, 25 people have been injured.
It was reported earlier that the fire was extinguished in 11 populated localities out of 14 and the fire was contained in three of them and watering was underway. Seventeen people were injured, eight of them were hospitalized.
