Tusk reassures Zelensky of invariable support for Ukraine

BRUSSELS. April 23 (Interfax) - European Council President Donald Tusk said that he spoke by telephone with Ukraine's president-elect Volodymyr Zelensky and the incumbent Petro Poroshenko on Tuesday.

"First, good phone call with Ukraine's President-elect Volodymyr Zelensky. I assured him of the EU's steadfast support to Ukraine. Looking forward to our cooperation and EU-Ukraine Summit in July," Tusk wrote on Twitter, also mentioning a separate call with Poroshenko "after five years of good cooperation."

"The competitive, free and fair presidential elections with a peaceful hand over is the best proof of Ukraine's progress and democracy," Tusk said.
