Elder son of Tajik leader becomes head of Central Asian Football Association

DUSHANBE. April 24 (Interfax) - Mayor of Dushanbe, President of the Football Federation of Tajikistan (FFT) and elder son of Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, Rustami Emomali, was elected the president of the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA), FFT reports.

"President of the Football Federation of Tajikistan Rustami Emomali was elected the new president of CAFA at a regular congress of CAFA held today, on April 24, at Hyatt Regency Dushanbe hotel," the report says.

It says that Vice President of the Football Federation of Kyrgyzstan Dastanbek Konokbayev was elected first vice president of CAFA and General Secretary of the Football Federation of Turkmenistan Arslan Ainazarov - Vice President of CAFA. The CAFA headquarters will be moving from Tashkent to Dushanbe.

CAFA established in June 2014 unites the football federations of six countries: Afghanistan, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
