Department head of FSB division Cherkalin detained on suspicion of gross bribery - FSB PR center
MOSCOW. April 25 (Interfax) - The head of a department of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) division has been detained on suspicion of bribery, the FSB public relations center told Interfax in a statement.
"The FSB internal security department in interaction with the Russian Investigative Committee's Main Military Investigative Department have detained Col. Kirill Vladimirovich Cherkalin, head of a department of the Federal Security Service division, as part of a criminal case on suspicion of accepting gross bribes," the statement said.
Cherkalin has worked in the department for the counteraction to economic crimes and dealt with the banking sector, according to media.
The FSB internal security department, jointly with the Investigative Committee, detained former employees of the same department Dmitry Frolov and Andrei Vasilyev, who were earlier dismissed from military service for reasons discrediting them, on suspicion of gross fraud, the statement said.
A criminal case is about to be opened and a measure of restraint delivered, it said.
