Parties to Astana round of intra-Syrian talks discussing Geneva meeting - Kazakh Foreign Ministry

NUR-SULTAN. April 26 (Interfax) - Parties to the intra-Syrian talks in the Kazakh capital of Nur-Sultan are mostly discussing the upcoming meeting in Geneva, which will address the establishment of the constitutional committee, Director of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry's Asia and Africa Department Aidarbek Tumatov, said.

"The coming meeting in Geneva, which will address the composition of the constitutional committee, is being discussed above all [at the current talks in Kazakhstan]," Tumatov said.

"Almost all provisions of the joint statement have been agreed upon," he said.

The sides are also discussing the possible engagement of new observers in the Astana process," Tumatov said.

"There is preliminary information that the plenary meeting will begin at 5 p.m.," he said.
