Kyiv sets conditions for implementation of political bloc of Minsk Agreements

KYIV. April 28 (Interfax) - Kyiv's position on the implementation of the political bloc of the Minsk Agreements should be clear and definite, Iryna Gerashchenko, first deputy speaker of the Verkhovna Rada and Ukraine's representative in the humanitarian subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group, said.

In the first place, the Russian decrees on the recognition of documents of some areas of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, the outcomes of the elections held on these territories in 2014 and 2018, and also the decree on the issuance of Russian passports to residents of the DPR and the LPR need to be reversed, she said.

Ukraine has fulfilled the political bloc of the Minsk Agreements by adopting a law on amnesty and local self-governance, Gerashchenko said on her Facebook page on Sunday. "But these laws did not take effect because of Russia," she said.

Gerashchenko again said that regional elections can only be held in Donbas after demilitarization and in accordance with Ukrainian laws.

The key moment should be the firm position of Ukraine not to hold "any direct talks" with the DPR and LPR authorities, she said. 'No legitimization of the pseudo-republics," Gerashchenko said.
