Russian fighters scrambled 9 times over week to intercept foreign reconnaissance planes - Defense Ministry

MOSCOW. May 6 (Interfax) - Twenty-six foreign reconnaissance aircraft were seen flying near Russia's borders over the past week, the Russian Defense Ministry's newspaper Krasnaya Zvezda said in the weekly infographic report posted on Monday.

Air defense fighters were scrambled nine times to intercept and escort the foreign reconnaissance planes in the reporting period, the newspaper said.

"No violations of the Russian airspace were allowed to happen," it said.
