New judge to hear ex-Armenian President Kocharyan's case

YEREVAN. May 7 (Interfax) - Yerevan general trial court judge David Grigoryan will hear the criminal case opened against former Armenian President Robert Kocharyan and former three high-ranking officials - Seyran Ohanyan, Yury Khachaturov and Armen Gevorkyan, Armenian Supreme Judicial Council spokesman Arman Khachatryan told Interfax.

According to earlier reports, Judge Vardan Grigoryan had recused himself from hearing the case of Kocharyan and some other former high-ranking officials.

Kocharyan, who is currently under arrest, has been charged with overthrowing the constitutional system in March 2008, when, according to investigators, a secret decree was signed authorizing the use of the Armed Forces to disperse the rallies.
