Russia to maintain growth in cheese, sausage production in 2019 - Agriculture Ministry
MOSCOW. May 7 (Interfax) - The Agriculture Ministry is forecasting continued growth of cheese and sausage production in Russia this year.
"The Agriculture Ministry expects the upward trend in production of cheese and sausage products to continue this year, facilitated by increased volumes of agricultural stock and the realization of new investment projects with state support in this segment," the ministry said.
It said that according to its monitoring data, industrial cheese production increased 2.5% in 2018, to 472,600 tonnes. Growth accelerated in Q1 2019: 115,600 tonnes of cheese was produced, a 10.5% increase year-on-year.
The ministry said that in 2018, sausage-product output, including baby food, increased 1%, to over 2.28 million tonnes. Production remained flat year-on-year in Q1.
