New wave of anonymous bomb threats hits Volga region

PERM. May 8 (Interfax) - The organizations and shopping centers of the Perm Territory, Bashkortostan and Udmurtia received anonymous bomb threats on Wednesday.

"Some organizations and establishments of the Perm Territory received anonymous bomb threats by email on May 8, 2019," the press service for the region's Territorial Security Ministry told Interfax.

The law enforcement agencies are now probing every threat. The agency is asking citizens to remain calm and follow instructions from the relevant authorities and administrations of establishments.

In Ufa, the police evacuated visitors and employees of the Krasin market, an eyewitness said. Firefighters and doctor are near the building. Visitors are also being evacuated from some of the city's shopping centers. Eyewitnesses said on social networking sites that the police are leading people out of the buildings of the shopping centers Prostor, Sipailovsky, Arkada, Zvyozdny and Perovsky.

The press service for the region's directorate of the Federal Security Service said the agency is verifying this information.

There was a bomb threat in a shopping center in Izhevsk on Wednesday, an informed source said. The press service for the Russian Guard's directorate for Udmurtia told the agency officials from the engineering-technical group of the OMON special task police had gone to the shopping center following Interior Ministry reports. The press service did not specify the shopping centers.

Similar bomb threats were earlier made to several shopping centers in Nizhny Novgorod and Bor, Nizhny Novgorod region. The emergency services inspected 16 facilities. The bomb threats turned out to be false.
