Common memory of war should strengthen strategic partnership between Russia, Belarus - Lukashenko

MINSK. May 8 (Interfax) - The common memory of the Great Patriotic War should help strengthen strategic partnership between Russia and Belarus, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said in his congratulatory letter to the Russian president on the 74th anniversary of the Victory.

"I am convinced that the holy memory of the Great Patriotic War will continue strengthening the unity of the people of Belarus and Russia, will promote the development of strategic partnership of the two friendly states and will help maintain stability in Europe," the president said.

"In his congratulatory address to Russian President Vladimir Putin, Alexander Lukashenko said people on the Victory Day remember with deep gratitude remember of the feat of arms of heroes liberators who saved the world from Nazi plague, they grieve for the millions of their fellow countrymen who gave their lives for peaceful future," the Belarusian presidential press service said.
