Putin arrives in Kazan
KAZAN. May 13 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in the capital of Tatarstan on Monday.
In Kazan, the president is expected to visit the Gorbunov Kazan Aviation Factory, where he will become familiar with production.
The factory is a branch of Tupolev PJSC, which is currently the only enterprise that is capable of producing latest-generation strategic bombers.
Putin visited the factory in January 2018 to see the flight of the newest strategic bomber Tupolev Tu-160, which is the world's largest supersonic strategic missile-carrying bomber and one of the world's most powerful warplanes. Forty-four world records have been set on the Tupolev Tu-160.
Besides the production of Tupolev Tu-160 aircraft, the enterprise is working on maintaining the current long-haul aviation fleet and is building special-purpose Tupolev Tu-214 aircraft for the Special Flight Unit Rossiya and the Russian Defense Ministry.
