Lavrov expects constructive negotiations with Pompeo
SOCHI. May 14 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said he expected to have constructive negotiations with United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who has come to Russia, to bring bilateral relations between the two countries out of their "current sad state."
"I hope we will be able today to try to work out concrete proposals aimed at bringing Russian-U.S. relations out of their current sad state, which has been conditioned by various objective and subjective reasons," Lavrov said while meeting with Pompeo on Tuesday.
"This is all the more relevant considering that our presidents set this task to us at the summit in Helsinki last year and reiterated it during their telephone call on May 3," he said.
