Moscow to react positively if Trump's proposal to meet with Putin in Osaka made officially - Lavrov

SOCHI. May 14 (Interfax) - Moscow will positively react to U.S. President Donald Trump's proposal to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Japan's Osaka if the proposal is made officially, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

"Naturally, we have heard the statement of President Trump that he is hoping to meet with President Putin, in particular, during their participation in the G20 summit in Osaka. Once such a proposal is made officially, we will surely react to it positively," Lavrov said at a press briefing following his talks with U.S. counterpart Mike Pompeo in Sochi, Russia on Tuesday.

"Mike Pompeo and I have talked about it today," Lavrov said.

Journalists wanted to know whether Lavrov and Pompeo had agreed during their contact on a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his counterpart Donald Trump.
