Swedish Defense Ministry informs Russia about Arctic Challenge 2019 Air Force drill

MOSCOW. May 15 (Interfax) - The Swedish Defense Ministry has informed a Russian delegation about the Arctic Challenge 2019 Air Force exercise to be hosted by Sweden, Norway, and Finland in May-June, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.

"The Russian delegation has held negotiations with representatives of the Swedish Defense Ministry and Armed Forces in Stockholm at the initiative of Sweden, which currently chairs the Nordic Defense Cooperation Mobile Training Team (NORDEFCO)," the statement said.

"The Russian delegation was briefed on NORDEFCO's current tasks and plans of the Arctic Challenge 2019 Air Force exercise to be hosted by Sweden, Norway, and Finland in May-June," the statement said.

The meeting took place in furtherance of the transparency policy of the NORDEFCO member states, the ministry said.
