Medvedev meets with UN High Commissioner for Human Rights
ST. PETERSBURG. May 15 (Interfax) - Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev met with new United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet on Wednesday.
Medvedev and Bachelet are attending the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum.
The Russian prime minister said Russia is giving special attention to human rights protection. The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, in turn, positively assessed interaction with Russia in terms of human rights.
Bachelet also praised the organization of the FIFA World Cup in Russia in 2018, saying there were no forms of discrimination whatsoever. She said it is important to preserve the heritage of the World Cup and to use Russia's experience in the organization of major international sports and cultural events in the future.
