CSTO PA Council to meet in Yerevan in fall

BISHKEK. May 20 (Interfax) - State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin has called for broadening the scope of locations for events held by the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO)'s Parliamentary Assembly.

"In furtherance of this important format, I propose that we hold the next meeting of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly Council in Yerevan in fall of this year with your consent," Volodin said at a meeting of the CSTO PA Council on Monday.

"On one hand, visiting sessions raise the effectiveness of inter-parliamentary cooperation and, on the other, they enable the host country to present its priorities in detail," he said.

"It would be a good idea to broaden the geographical scope of our events and to hold them in CSTO member states by turn," Volodin said.

Council members backed the State Duma speaker's idea of holding the CSTO PA session in Yerevan in fall 2019.
