Poroshenko Bloc to run in early parliamentary elections - faction leader
KYIV. May 21 (Interfax) - The Petro Poroshenko Solidarity Bloc party intends to run in early elections to the Verkhovna Rada despite their having been called in violation of the Ukrainian constitution, leader of the party's parliamentary faction Artur Herasymov said.
"I would like to confirm that the Petro Poroshenko Solidarity Bloc is ready for early parliamentary elections and will definitely be taking part in them," Herasymov told journalists on Tuesday, following consultations between parliamentary faction leaders and President Volodymyr Zelensky.
"As concerns our party's participation in the elections, I would like to reaffirm that we are not afraid of them, which we have said repeatedly," he said.
Rada First Deputy Chairperson Iryna Herashchenko had said following Zelensky's meeting with the parliamentary leaders that early elections to the Rada might be held on July 21 or July 28.
