Kolomoisky says didn't meet with Zelensky after returning to Ukraine
KYIV. May 22 (Interfax) - Ukrainian businessman Ihor Kolomoisky said he did not meet with President Volodymyr Zelensky after returning to Ukraine but texted him to congratulate him on winning the elections and taking office.
Asked in an interview with Ukrayinska Pravda's video project to be posted on its Youtube channel soon whether he met with Zelensky after returning from Israel, Kolomisky replied: "No, but why should have I? [...] I congratulated him by phone, modern communication devices make it possible not to meet."
"What's the point [in meeting]? First, it's immediately a lot of journalists and a lot of unnecessary questions. And all of that only to have to explain later that I simply wanted to congratulate him. I congratulated him on his victory in the elections and on officially taking office. Simply texted him," Kolomoisky said.
Kolomoisky said he watched Zelensky's inauguration ceremony on television and liked the new president's speech. "This was a colorful speech. Unlike [Rada Speaker Andriy] Parubiy, who said that this was fun, I'll say that this was colorful. Especially if you look at some faces," he said.
